Project duration: 2016 – 2022
Location: Mavindini (Makueni)
The aim of the Child Centered Community Development (CCCD) Program in Mavindini is improved living standards of children, youth, parents and the whole community in a sustainable way. Our pathways of change are:
Basic Education
In partnership with the Ministry of Education, Help a Child Africa supports quality improvement of 8 primary schools. We strengthen Board of Managements and build the capacity of Early Childhood Education instructors.
Youth Empowerment
Help a Child supports Child Based Organizations to link youths with government bodies and micro-finance institutions and to deliver mentorship and life skills training. We strengthen youth groups on financial literacy and other skills.
Community Empowerment & Livelihoods
We improve the livelihoods of vulnerable households through (climate smart) food production and development of income generating activities. This is done through strengthening of existing community structures such as self-help groups and Cluster Level Associations.
Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)
We strengthen community health units and water resource management committees to promote hygiene, enhanced health, child well-being and sanitation.
Parenting & Child Protection
We build the capacity of child protection structures within the community as well as relevant external partners. We strengthen the fatherhood parley to promote skillful parenting.
