Help a Child in Rwanda
Help a Child is a Dutch organization founded in 1968 with a mission to promote a promising future for children in need, their family and entire community.
It was in 2008 when Help a Child started its operation in Rwanda to carry out a ‘Child Centered Community Development Programs-CCCD’ that target children from vulnerable families and communities. Currently the programme reaches 12 sectors in four districts: Bugesera, Rwamagana, Rusizi and Ngoma using a holistic approach with a focus to four thematic interventions areas: Early Childhood Development, Child participation, Youth Employment, Community resilience Building & Economic Development, taking place in the same communities, so that families receive multiple layers of support.
In addition, Help a Child implements ECD focused interventions to increase access to quality ECD services and enhancing capacity of caregivers in rural and urban communities of Rwanda, covering 7 districts, mainly tea areas (Rubavu, Rutsiro, Karongi, Ngororero, Nyaruguru, Gicumbi and Nyabihu), and the city of Kigali.
Help a Child has active programmes across 4 provinces in Rwanda:
